reflection on our first “tour”!

(to bring you up to speed…we just had our first tour. we drove to kansas to play a wedding, and then took a week to drive home and made a bunch of stops and played some shows.)

My mom called me yesterday at 4 PM and asked “are you home  yet??!” I replied “actually, we just left North Carolina. GPS says we’ll get home at 9 PM if we make no stops.”

I guess if we had stayed at a hotel on the last leg of the trip, we would have checked out early, gotten a quick breakfast, and would have been on the road very soon. But it didn’t happen that way! For the last two nights, we stayed with our friends Kathy and Eli in Mebane, NC. After the gig we went to Allie’s 3 AM pool party and got back at I don’t even know what time. 6 AM maybe? So needless to say, we slept in a bit.

My mom also asked “so how was it? Was it what you had expected?” And I could honestly say that it was better. I didn’t come home thinking “oh DAMN, I am ready to be home!” I didn’t get homesick. Sure, there were tough parts. There were a few days where all we did was drive–that’s it. And we crammed 5 of us into a room. Just waiting for everyone to get showered and dressed took half the day.

But it was so wonderful. We made new friends, new fans, saw new things, had some nice time together. Everywhere we turned, people were kind and supportive. It was definitely overwhelming.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who made our first big trip a super special one. I won’t list people because there are tons of names, and I don’t want to leave anyone out. But please hear us when we say thank you, thank you, thank you so much. We will always remember you!
