I need music for everything. I need it to express my feelings. I need it to help me get rid of tears sometimes. I need it to get fired up, or to calm down. I need it on a Friday night, and a Monday morning. I always need it. Sometimes it weirds me out, thinking how important it is. What would I do without music? What would my marriage be like if I wasn’t making music with Jaime? So we wrote a song about this need a few years ago, called “Need the Music.”
Our band is often told “wow, you guys are really hardworking.” And that’s no joke. We play for free, we play for $50, we’ll drive hours to a gig when we already worked that day. Why say no to a gig, when we could just play? We always want it.
A few months ago, I think Jaime and I were in the car, and I was saying “ugh, picking an album name is gonna be so tough. I don’t even wanna deal with that yet.”
But I didn’t have to. Because the name just picked itself. It had already been picked! We already wrote a song about it. Need the music. It’s because we need it, and because we want you to need it. Everyone should need it.
So there we have it! Our album name is Need the Music.
Julie!!! I love the album name, it is perfect indeed! I truly enjoyed this blog posting because music inspires me in the same ways, without it I almost feel lost and to pick myself up again, all I do is turn on the radio. (Particularly Pandora) Because I can zone in on a specific genre or emotion that I am needing to emit.
